Broker disclosures

Kilowhiz is registered with the Public Utility Commission of Texas as an electricity broker. Texas law asks a broker to tell you the following before it helps you choose a plan. This page is that notice, in plain language.

The short version: Kilowhiz is free during beta and receives no payment from any electricity provider. No provider owns any part of Kilowhiz. You always enroll yourself, on the provider's own site, and you can stop using Kilowhiz at any time with nothing owed.

None. Kilowhiz is not a retail electric provider, is not owned in any part by one, and is not the agent of any provider or utility.

What we do for you

Kilowhiz prices the electricity plans on sale in your utility territory against your own meter data and tells you which one would cost the least for your home, with the reasons. That advice is the brokerage service. We do not sign you up: when you choose a plan, you enroll on the provider's own website yourself, and your identity and your provider enrollment details go to the provider directly, never through us.

How we are paid, and by whom

Kilowhiz is free during beta and receives no payment from any electricity provider. We plan to offer an optional paid watch service later. If a provider ever pays Kilowhiz for an enrollment, the plan will say so before you enroll, and it will never change where any plan ranks.

How long this lasts, and how to end it

There is no contract and no term. Kilowhiz works session by session; you end it by closing the page, and you can delete your account and every record it holds from the Account tab. There is no fee for ending the service and nothing to cancel with any provider.

Your information

Under 16 TAC §25.486(j), a broker may not release or sell information that identifies you or your electricity account without your written authorization. Kilowhiz does neither. Our privacy policy says exactly what we collect and why.

Complaints

Tell us first at admin@kilowhiz.com and we will investigate and reply. You also have the right to complain to the Commission, informally or formally, at any time, and nothing you agree to with Kilowhiz limits that right or requires arbitration.
